This year my husband and I are making ourselves available to speak at your marriage and family events. As we’ve led Sola Church in Santa Monica, CA, we’ve seen the heartbreak that comes in the way our faith communities handle divorced people, and the shame it imparts on those of us unfortunate enough to have endured divorce. It’s time to change that narrative. Representation matters, and your church, as ours, has a large percentage of divorced, remarried, and blended families. Shaming, shushing, and shunning, needs to be a thing of the past. Let’s work together to shed light on this issue, as we share our stories, and begin to heal.
